Some cowboys never learn, they just keep on getting back on that horse.

“Nelson was not on the tour bus where ALE agents found marijuana and “non-tax-paid alcohol, which is moonshine,” said Ted Carlton, special agent in charge of the District III ALE office out of Wilmington.

Carlton said it was about 6:40 p.m. Thursday when ALE agents smelled marijuana in a parking lot by the Duplin County Events Center in Kenansville. After entering the tour bus, agents also saw a jar of moonshine, he said. “

My First Cat……….

I’m a “dog- kind-of-guy”, always have, always will be.

I’ve tended to think of Cats in the same way as I have of kids.

“They’re great as long as they belong to someone else”

But since I’ve moved back here to Wilmington, I’ve had to re-adjust my thinking, and feelings about  Cats”.

And there’s a reason for that……….

…..My First Cat.

Bronx sat under the dining table the day I arrived, but it wasn’t long before Bronx and I became Tight. At first, I thought he was peculiar. He had a penchant for weird stuff, like…….

watching T.V……..

playing with twist-ties…….

eating cottage cheese………

And  Water , plenty of water.

He liked drinking the stuff……..

playing in it………

cleaning himself with it……

Did I mention he liked Water?

In reality, I think I’ve become a “cat-kind-of guy”.

Truth is, I’ve fallen in Love with “Bronx”.

But today we lost “Bronx”

I will forever miss him.

It was only 1 year we spent together, but a year I will remember forever.

R.I.P. Bronx

We Love You

……It’s Such a Simple Message

John Winston Lennon

Oct. 9, 1940 – Dec. 8, 1980

On this day, the 29th anniversary of John Lennon’s murder in New York City, and in light of President Obama’s speech on ending the conflict in Afghanistan in recent days, let’s think about this statement that John and Yoko proclaimed so many years ago.

…….any war

……..any time

…….it’s real simple.

How bad do you want it?

……..He’s backkkkkkkkk

Hello my friends, and welcome to “Scribbles’, my latest attempt at blogging. Some of you are familiar with me from my past blogs, Muley’s Cafe and Muley’s Cafe 2.0, for which we talked mainly about the politics and happenings in my home town of Lorain, Ohio.

We are NOT going there anymore, time to move on and leave Lorain for the good citizens of Lorain and their elected officials to deal with. I have completely settled in to my new digs here in Wilmington, N.C., having remarried  the love of my life, Patty (thank you Mr. Google) and I will try to keep focused on “all things Wilmington”.

Soooooooo, let’s roll……..

Last thursday, July 23rd. we ventured down to Carolina Beach  to The Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar for a little live “accoustic” music by a singer/songwriter named Charlie Mars, who just happens to get a fair amount of air play on the local radio station that I listen to, The Penguin. Well. I have to say I was blown away, not by the music, but just the atmosphere that was on display that evening. Remnants of the old Center Pier built in 1949, the Ocean Grill and Tkki Bar came about when hurricanes Bertha and Fran came to town in 1996 and turned the majority of the pier into kindling and landscaping art. The “Tiki” bar at the end is soooo cool with it’s “bright” paint job and the beautiful sunset that I would think it to be nearly impossible for anyone to not have a good time.

As we sat on the railing enjoying it all, I noticed alot of people just sitting on the beach with their beach chairs turned to take in the sweet sounds coming from the pier above them, obviously I wasn’t alone in my enjoyment.

….and Charlie may have had something to do with it.

Take a listen and I think you’ll agree……..

If you have never been to the Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar, their located at 1211 S Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach. Although I haven’t eaten any thing from their menu, they have a very large selection of entree’s, sandwiches and appetizers to choose from, which can be viewed here.
